Kadlec Architecture + Design is a collaborative studio which brings together inspired design and management skills with over 20 years of experience in the practice of residential architecture and interior design, and corporate and retail interior design.

Founded in 2004, by Steve Kadlec, Kadlec Architecture + Design provides thoughtful problem solving and exceptional design to residential and specialty corporate and retail projects. The firm believes that successful design integrates the client’s functional and budget requirements within a solution that reflects their style and personality.

Steve Kadlec is a registered architect with over 20 years experience in residential architecture and interior design, having left Gary Lee Partners in 2004 after nine years as an Associate and Studio Director for the residential design practice. Mr. Kadlec is an active member of the American Institute of Architects, the International Interior Design Association as well as a board member of DIFFA Chicago, the Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids. In addition, Steve has served as a juror for various NEOCON product competitions and as guest juror for student work at the University of Illinois Chicago, Harrington Institute, and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Domenica Waslin joined KAD in 2005 bringing over 6 years of experience in residential and commercial interior design. Ms. Waslin brings exceptional design and management skills to the studio having worked for four years at Gary Lee Partners and one year at Lagrange Mann Interiors. Domenica received her bachelor of interior architecture (BIA) from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago and has a degree in interior design from Humber College in Toronto.

Justin Amundson joined KAD in 2007 as a designer. Justin spent the past several years in the area of residential retail furniture and furnishings developing a keen knowledge of furniture, interior space and design. He brings a detailed understanding of furniture procurement and fabrication. Justin received his degree in interior design from Harrington Institute of Design in Chicago.

Bob Barko also joined KAD in 2005 bringing over 20 years of experience in office management and administration. Mr. Barko brings small firm and large corporate experience to the administration of the office and procurement of furniture and furnishings. Bob’s varied experiences compliment and support the design team’s efforts and are an integral part of successfully servicing clients.

Jamie Ackerman joined KAD at the beginning of 2008 after a successful student internship. A recent graduate of the Illinois Institute of Art- Chicago, Jamie brings a keen eye for contemporary modern design and is proficient in drawing and detailing. In addition to her degree in interior design, Jamie received her bachelor of science in psychology from University of Florida.
