An empty-nester couple that had previously lived in a traditional colonial home came to us with a desire to build their modern dream home on the lake. Perched boldly on a bluff, their modern lakefront residence is a showcase for dramatic Lake Michigan views. The desire for quiet, monolithic finishes led to the development of oversized limestone floor slabs.  An elegant restraint in the design details, including clean-lined custom furnishings, simple finishes, and a neutral finish palette, provide a quietly modern and low maintenance backdrop from which to observe the commanding lake views.
